Fee details: Camp fee is $150 for half-day one-week camp & $300 for full-day one-week camp, until one week before the camp starts. Camp fee beyond this point will be $200 and $350 for half-day and full-day camps respectively. Registrations will be shut down one day before each week’s camps. Last minute/walk-in registration fee will be $250 and $400 respectively and we will accept only if there is space & logistically possible to accommodate – email [email protected] for pre-approval & payment mechanism for last minute registrations. There is no separate registration fee for our camps. Cancellation fee is $25 until the camp start date. After the camp starts, prorated amount minus $25 fee will be refunded for cancellations.

While our registration fee is quite low to start with, you can plan ahead and save more money! You can get 20% discount if you register by end of this year. Use discount code DEC2018 while checking out. We will accommodate if your Summer plans change – you can transfer to another camp/week for FREE.

(Discount codes for immediate families of current UTD faculty/staff/students: UTDFAMILY – UTD email address should be used for registration, immediate families of UTD alumni: UTDALUMNI – need to provide degree and graduation details during registration, low income families that get reduced rate meals at schools need to send the proof after registration to [email protected] to get discount code to use, School teachers can send the copy of school ID badge to [email protected] to get discount code for them to attend the camps – it is NOT for their families. Also, we do not offer any multi-camp or sibling discounts. Discounts cannot be combined either.)

See utdallas.edu/k12/directions for driving directions to ECSS building in UT Dallas campus. We provide the PCs/laptops for all level 0 & level 1 camps. For level 2 or higher level camps, Windows laptop or MacBook is required, unless explicit instructions are given in the camp description. Any typical laptop will do for most camps. You can buy a decent laptop for ~$200 now – HP Stream 11 laptop is a good example. Limited # of loaner laptops are available & they can be reserved in advance by paying $25 alongwith the registration.

Codes: M – Morning (9-12), A – Afternoon (1 to 4), W – Whole day (9-4), (Camp hours will be 8:30 to 12:15pm & 1-4:45pm during July 2-6 week since it will be 4 day camp with July 4th holiday)

In the interest of making our camps more accessible to families, we will have additional buffer time for drop-off and pick-up before and after camp hours. Morning sessions start at 9am – you can drop your children as early as 8:30am. Afternoon sessions end at 4pm – you can pick-up your children as late as 5pm. With 1-day advance notice to [email protected], you can drop off earlier or pickup late. It will be $5 for every 30 minutes. Payment is due at the time of drop-off or pickup. Without the advance notification, late pickup fee will be $1 per minute beyond 5pm.

We will continue to serve snacks and meals for level 2-4 campers (mostly middle & high school students) as long as they don’t have any food allergies. UTDallas administration has allowed us to run Elementary kids’ camps again with the condition that each child brings snacks (and lunch if needed) from home. We are prohibited from serving any food items for these younger guests. Thanks for your understanding. We will provide complete supervision from sign-in to sign-out (one instructor will accompany the kids to restrooms as well, considering the “open” nature of college buildings) including the lunch-hour and taking the full-day campers to afternoon camps. Parents are required to sign-in and sign-out in the respective camp rooms.

Advanced Problem Solving Course using Java

This is a course for high school and senior high school students and teachers who wish to extend their problem solving and computer programming skills. We will use the Java programming language but, our approach is much less regarding language features than it is about confidence and correctness when problem solving in any procedural high level language. This course will run weekday mornings 9am-12noon during the first 2 weeks of Summer break (June 3-14). Each session will comprise one hour of in-class instruction and ninety minutes of problem solving. Click this link for more details.

Prerequisites: Students should be proficient in using a PC or a MAC & bring a laptop to the class. They should be able to use simple tools such as an editor and an IDE, such as Eclipse or Net Beans. They should be able to program well in Java.

Advance registration is required @ bit.ly/utd-algo. Registration fee will be $150 for students, with discounts for low income students, UTD families and school teachers. See the bottom of utdallas.edu/k12 for the details on discounts.

 

Cyber Defense Camps 

We hope to decide the cyber defense camp schedule for Summer 2019 by December 15. utdallas.edu/k12/cyber will be updated with the details.

While we do not have the expertise to handle all the kids with special needs, we are thrilled to support as best as we can. We will provide a dedicated instructor for your child. If you believe that your presence will help your child to learn better, we are OK as well.

Fee for half-day camp for one week will be $300 – you can select Morning or Afternoon session. We will be happy to refund pro-rated amount if we/you feel that we are not making good progress! Since we will assign a dedicated instructor for each student, you can select whichever camp you would like! While we recommend you to do just one session per week, if you strongly feel that your child can handle both morning & afternoon sessions together, you can register for both.
In case your plans change & you need to cancel, we understand – we will charge just $25 fee to cancel & refund the remaining fee back to your credit card. Email your needs to the director at [email protected] Once you are approved, visit bit.ly/sec-utd to register.
