The Virtual Worlds Lab at The University of Texas at Dallas conducts research in immersive, multi-participant 3D environments that support collaborative research, instructional, and creative projects.

This cross-disciplinary lab explores the future of interactive art and technology through the development of distributed communities and social networks in real time online spaces and the emerging metaverse.

We are developing a series of Islands in Second Life with research, art, office, and conference spaces.

The Virtual Worlds lab is part of the Emerging Media Initiative in Arts & Technology inside the School of Arts & Humanities at UTD.

The lab is currently working with the Center for Brain Health at UTD developing experimental therapy environments for patients with Autism.
