New degree programs

Since 2004 UT Dallas has launched many new academic programs to make sure our students are competitive after graduation.

Emerging Media and Communications
This program addresses evolving forms of media and communications, including web-based writing and content development.

Computer Engineering
This degree trains computer engineers to satisfy the design and development needs of both local and state industry, as well as prepares them to be innovators and policy makers.

Materials Science and Engineering
Materials science and engineering involves the study of advanced materials, including metals and their composites, polymers, silicon and bio-material, and their possible uses in new and sophisticated applications. 

Geospatial Information Sciences
UT Dallas offers one of the nation's first doctorate degrees in geospatial information sciences – an important, fast-growing new field that melds data collection, mapmaking and spatial analysis.

Finance
The new bachelor of science in finance degree is designed to train students in both the theoretical and practical aspects of financial decision making.

Biotechnology
One of the first such degrees offered by any university in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, biotechnology is “applied biology” – using living organisms to make or modify products, run processes or improve plants and animals.

Electrical Engineering and MBA
Through a joint program, students are able to earn a master of science in electrical engineering degree and a master of business administration degree.

Global Leadership EMBA
UT Dallas has launched three new post-graduate certificate programs designed to help participants learn, understand and then lead—at the global level—in the disciplines of market development, strategy, technology-based operations and human resources.
