Orientation 2009
[All information is subject to change without notice.]
International Student Orientation is mandatory for F and J international students enrolling at UTD for the first time. Please note: F and J status students will not be able to register for classes prior to attending an Orientation. Students must attend the entire Orientation session. Students arriving more than twenty minutes late will be required to attend the next available Orientation session. Please contact ISSOPrograms@utdallas.edu to register for Orientation by providing your name, e-mail address, UTD ID number, level and program of study, and indicate whether you are a new or transfer student.

If you are an incoming freshman international student, please e-mail Anne.Caldwell@utdallas.edu for detailed information about your Orientation process.
You should confirm your attendance for an Orientation with the ISSO at least seven business days before the Orientation session you wish to attend. You can do this by email to ISSOPrograms@utdallas.edu or by phone at 972-883-4189.
All F and J visa holders must submit copies of their immigration documents to the ISSO (MC 1.310) prior to registering for classes. We strongly recommend that you submit your documents early as it will expedite your registration for classes at UTD. If you cannot come before the day of your Orientation session, please bring copies of all documents with you to the Orientation session.
The International Student Services Office will not be able to make copies for you. Please make photocopies in advance. Copy machines are available on the ground floor of the McDermott Library across from the Student Union building. Each copy costs 10 cents.
Students arriving from abroad must submit copies of the following documents:
- The stamped I-20 (page 1 and 3)
- The visa
- The identification page in the passport including expiration date
- Both sides of the I-94
Transfer students must submit copies of the following documents:
- Copy of the most recent I-20 (page 1 and 3)
- The visa
- The identification page in the passport including expiration date
- Both sides of the I-94 card
- UTD financial affidavit form
- Bank statement on letterhead that is less than 6 months old ($31,520 for undergraduates/$28,570 for graduates)
- EAD (if currently on Optional Practical Training)
Transfer students may not register for classes until all documents are verified and received. To receive the transfer I-20, transfer students must have their SEVIS record transferred out by their previous school.
