Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Society (PBPHS)

The Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Society (PBPHS) at UT Dallas was founded as an organization for those people who, after having earned a degree or first time non-traditional students, find themselves beginning or resuming their school careers over again in order to become a doctor, dentist, veterinarian, or any other health professional. PBPHS is dedicated to helping people in this position find the information they need in completing these goals as well as providing some study partners, great friends, and a social life for those of us that are too busy to really have one.

About PBPHS
We participate in a variety of events. We have regular meetings at which members discuss their experiences both in the classroom and out. There are regular social gatherings where members can relax, become better aquatinted, and bring your spouse or significant other. We also host a town hall meeting every semester with advisors from the Health Professions Advising Committee to discuss the application process, answer questions, and provide general advise. In addition to these gatherings, we have committed to collaborating with traditional student organizations whose commitments are also geared towards professional school. Together we bring in representatives from medical, dental, and other health professional schools, allowing students to get a first hand idea of what is expected in the line of admissions. Finally, we are committed to finding and organizing worthwhile community service events where we as a group can volunteer our time.
Why PBPHS
Through all of this, we hope to help our members with their entry into the professional school of their choice, all while increasing the visibility and touting the benefits of the post-baccalaureate student in the health professional community. We have established relationships with various departments on campus including but not limited to advising and financial aid. As a group we have experienced the pains and joys of being a non-traditional student, and can always lend a good ear.
