Established by Mrs. Eugene McDermott in support of her husband's dream, the McDermott Scholars program provides select UTD students with a rigorous and personalized education as well as intensive extracurricular activities.

Every semester and each summer, select McDermott Scholars disperse throughout the world to see its treasures with their own eyes. The Study Abroad Blog chronicles their travels to locations such as Greece, New Zealand, Argentina, China, Russia, and Ireland.

The latest class of McDermott Scholars, made up of ten women and ten men, includes three valedictorians and one salutatorian. The students collectively graduated in the top 2.3 percent of their high school class. Three achieved a perfect score on the SAT or the ACT; the group averaged 2240 on the SAT overall.
