ROBERT A. WELCH CHAIR IN CHEMISTRY

The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

 

The Department of Chemistry at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) seeks outstanding applicants for the distinguished Robert A. Welch Chair in Chemistry, preferably in areas at the interface of Chemistry and Biology or Materials.  The Department offers the Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. degrees and many of its faculty are members of the Alan G. MacDiarmid NanoTech Institute.

The successful applicant will have an internationally recognized record of research and will be encouraged to recruit junior faculty to extend and complement his/her research areas.  In addition, the successful applicant will be actively engaged in undergraduate and graduate education, and be involved in service to the university and profession.

Applicants for this tenured position at the full Professor rank should have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, materials chemistry, or related discipline.  Joint appointments among relevant departments at UTD and UT Southwestern Medical School are envisioned.  It is anticipated that the chair-holder’s primary research efforts will be housed in the newly dedicated Natural Science and Engineering Research Building, a state-of-the-art facility designed to foster interdisciplinary research.  (See:  http://www.utdallas.edu/nsm/news/2007/nserl.html)

A substantial start-up package is budgeted for this position.
