Professor (Rank Open) in Literary Studies/British Literature

The School of Arts and Humanities at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for a tenure track position, rank open, in Literary Studies, with an emphasis on early modern British Literature. Candidates should be able to offer a range of graduate and undergraduate courses in medieval and early modern British literature. Expertise in women’s studies and/or literary theory is highly desired, as is the ability to place literature in a broader humanistic context. Research area preferred: 16-17th centuries.
Appointment will begin September 1, 2009. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to publishing, undergraduate and graduate teaching, interdisciplinary education and research, and professional academic service. The School offers an interdisciplinary program built on four interrelated areas: Literary Studies, Historical Studies, and Aesthetic Studies (including Art and Performance) and Arts and Technology. The academic philosophy of the School emphasizes the fusion of critical with creative thinking as well as linkages among various modes of knowledge and artistic expression. Located in suburban Dallas, UTD is a dynamic, growing research institution with a diverse student body (ca. 15,000) and a strong research faculty.
